What’s on September 26th – October 2nd

A perfect Paton's Pooch!

This week Brian and Betty are taking it easy. Betty is putting her feet up after a busy week at Musica Antica, and is catching up on some very neglected crochet. She is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new book from amazon.com, Knit Your Own Dog.

Brian is keeping is spirits up at Floriade, and enjoying the weather which brings with it a certain peace and quiet for a few minutes while the rain and wind picks up.

Join Brian and Betty on Sunday afternoon for a tantalizing Tchaikovsky concert of Symphony no. 5, with soloist Roy Theaker performing the Violin Concerto with conductor Mark Sheill.

Albert Hall, 3pm, tickets at the door!

What’s on – September 19th-25th

Well this week I am very excited about the Musica Antica early music festival at the ANU school of music. Brian has entrenched himself at Floriade, so I am able to immerse myself fully and enjoy the week’s program without his nasty comments about classical music. For the month of Floriade I hardly see Brian. He is either communing with nature, or starting a naturalist commune. Either way, he is off cavorting with tulips and is not bothering me. The festival runs all this week, providing a lovely series of lectures and concerts. For full details head to the ANU website http://www.music.anu.edu.au/earlymusicfest

On Saturday afternoon I am heading to Craft ACT for a community workshop with textile artist Kay Lawrence entitled Heart’s Desire. Taking a few buttons to thread onto silk and my heart’s desire might come true! For more info head to http://www.craftact.org.au/events/comingup/

Sunday is busy as well, with a production of Grease by the Free Reign theatre company. Tickets are available from the Tuggeranong arts centre http://www.tuggeranongarts.com/t_grease.php

And I believe Brian is heading to the electric vehicle festival on Sunday, to see if upgrading the old Kingswood is a viable option. You can vote for this on the events page if you like. Hopefully he can tear himself away from the tulips for long enough. Looks to be a very busy week!
